Today’s new arrival: the deluxe Blob figure.
Usually, the larger figures are harder to pose, but this thing has great articulation for a number of positions.
And his size is immense, both in height and in girth. At over 8-inches tall he looks great standing next to puny X-Men figures.
Hasbro didn’t skimp on the paint apps for this figure, either. While his usually brown hair looks a bit reddish, the body itself has a bit of a wash to it that shows either some dirt or some freckles; I’m not entirely sure which. Still, it makes the figure look less plastic-y.
Hasbro also did the figure justice in terms of accessories. You get a swappable set of hands and two head options–one screaming face and one a more serious face. I prefer the screaming face for my display.
Now, this isn’t Hasbro’s first release of the Blob; that would be the (now very old) 2007 Build-A-Figure. The two figures, while of the same character, are night and day different. I know different artists depict Blob (and all characters) in different ways, but the cellulite-laden 2007 BAF always seemed a bit too specific to the time period for me. This is a nice classic Blob that harkens all the way back to his earliest appearances. Completists like me will want both in their collection, but if you choose only one, this 2023 release is the one to have.
